The Tigers have a good hitter at third. His name is Carlos Guillen. I couldn't be that hard to find a DH who could hit, could it? Maybe just call up Streiby.

I'm not entirely against what you are thinking. A better hitter at third would be a welcome addition to the lineup. We would all like to hope that Inge is the answer, that his knees are what caused his poor second half, but it's not like he has a great track record with the bat. Crazy idea: Inge moves over to short where his offense is more pallatable and the Tigers go after a Chone Figgins or Mark DeRosa at third. I doubt the money is there for that kind of player, but Inge could definately play short- and play it well.

If the Tigers leave Everett at short, they could instead upgrade the offense with a different third baseman. Everett is cheap and is a very good glove. Inge is not so cheap, and although his glove is spectacular (at times), his lifetime BA and OBP is terrible. There is no reason to believe he will suddenly be a better batter next year. I don't think he will. Trade Inge and look for a good hitting 3rd baseman.

Wow, I didn't realize the contract situation with Jack Wilson. He certainly would not be the type of shortstop I would hope for, but I almost expect that if he becomes available, DD will go after him. I wonder if the $8MM per year the M's won't be paying Johjima could be used to keep Wilson? They did give up a whole lot to get him.

One note: I notice Jack Wilson will be a free agent if the M's don't take the pricey option. There have been rumors for years now that Dombrowski was trying to trade for him, but the Pirates always wanted too much. I'm not sure why DD would want him, but...

Great post. I couldn't agree more... any of those guys would be an upgrade over Everett at short. Felipe Lopez would seem to be a great fit.
